persephone and the wych elm

ummmm this is probably still a work in progress but i thought i'd post it anyway a quick, experimental illustration for sweet inspired by her lovely interpretation of the Persephone and Thanatos story, which can be read here: [link] it's beautiful! she's amazing! go read it! this scene is when Thanatos snatches Persephone away, and the wych elm tree dies as she reaches towards it.

sooo yes this will probably be adjusted a little more, maybe i'll add some leaves.... i was considering drawing in Thanatos with his arm around Persephone, buuuuut i think i'll draw him another time so there's a little more focus on his design. i kinda really wanna draw a sweet ancient Greek helmet P:<
